Stage 1 – Getting Started

   Like most things of value in your life, you will benefit from the Stress Management for Real Life seminar/workshop in direct proportion to the interest and energy you invest in the process.  Learning to manage stress is not an event – it does not just happen in one day.  It is a process that must be attended to each day.  Practice of the skills and techniques is necessary for
successful management of stress.  In this first stage, you will begin to add valuable instruments to an imaginary toolbox that will aid you in managing workplace stress.  You will:

· Learn about the physical aspects of acute and chronic stress

 

· Be introduced to techniques to take control of chronic stress

 

· Be able to differentiate between physical and emotional stress

 

· Understand the stress and pain cycle

 

· Learn to breathe for symptom relief

 

· Begin stress management training

 

· Be introduced to basic relaxation techniques

 

· Apply beginning stress reduction techniques

 

· Begin stress awareness training

 

· Be introduced to the concept of the mind/body connection

 

· Learn the basic concept of sleep hygiene

 

· Be introduced to pacing and time management techniques related to controlling stress
